Jim & Mary Brandon & family have welcomed a Ukraine family into their home, who fled the invasion in their city. Below you will see the profile we received introducing themselves. We are grateful for their safe journey and thankful for the generosity of our church community helping in many different ways for them to get settled. Alexander has now secured employment and they are navigating the many avenues to make this area their home for the foreseeable future.
PS Sonya is enjoying her new home also.
Shpak Family
Hello, my name is Nataliia, I am 59 years old and a mother to my son Alexander who is 32 years old. We are both from Mykolaiv a city in Ukraine.
Alexander and I have received a CUAET visa and we plan to come to the Sarnia area on July 2. It is our hope we are both able to find jobs and housing. By profession, I am a teacher of Ukrainian language and literature, my son Alexander is a specialist in computer peripherals. We have an amazing cat named Sonya that will be traveling with us. Sonya is a very well-mannered and clean Cat. My son Alexander and I would be very grateful for any help in settling into the Sarnia community.
Update from Jim Brandon:
Alex has earned his driver's license and is now working full-time. Nataliia is working also 2 days a week and helps out at church with our baking fundraisers. Congratulations Nataliia!
Thanks Jim
We are blessed with the talents of Ruth Scott-Balog, who is our Musician/Choir Director. She is challenging the choir and bringing new, joyful music to the Sanctuary while paying homage to our traditions too. So, if you love to sing or know someone who does we’d love to have you join us! From traditional organ to electric guitar, we’re embracing it all. Ruth has learned many new skills during these challenging times and we are grateful for her expertise and enthusiasm.
Ruth can be reached at ruthscottbalog@gmail.com.
We are not alone,
we live in God's world.
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating,
who has come in Jesus,
the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new,
who works in us and others
by the Spirit.
We trust in God.
We are called to be the Church:
to celebrate God's presence,
to live with respect in Creation,
to love and serve others,
to seek justice and resist evil,
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God.
